Five Element Acupuncture

What is Five Element Acupuncture

Five-element acupuncture is different from the widely used Traditional Chinese Medicine. TCM effectively works on specific symptoms, such as joint pain. Five-element acupuncture, by contrast, seeks out the root cause of the problem. In this way, five-element acupuncture alleviates the main symptom, and, in addition, provides an opportunity for the body to heal. It boosts health and wellbeing, and brings balance back to the body and the mind.

Treatment uses very fine, single-use, sterile, disposable needles. In some treatments, the needles are placed in the body for a short period of time, but in general, the ‘fast needling’ technique is used. This involves the swift presentation of a single needle to acupuncture points specifically selected for each individual patient. These points lie on the “meridians” or channels of energy which run through the body. The needles can be used to boost or quieten the flow of energy as needed, and acupuncture points may be used across the whole body, not necessarily just in the area where symptoms are felt.
