Tracey Jefford answers your questions...

Q) Can you help with headaches too?

YES. I can help men who suffer with a history or ongoing headaches or migraines.

- Firstly, I will take a thorough case history to rule out any underlaying medical conditions, plus ask about recent eye checks.

- What next?  We assess the function and mobility of your skeletal frame and muscular tension to check if this is contributing to the complaint.  I look at your posture too and how you use your body day to day to form a diagnosis.

- Then… I can start forming my treatment plan

- How, my suggested treatment will depend on my diagnosis and age of my patient.  I will use structural osteopathy, which is formed from articulation, manipulations or soft tissue work.  This increases the range of movement of joints and muscles in the musculoskeletal system, plus generate fluid flow, e.g blood lymphatics to aid the healing process.  However, I find most effective for headaches is Cranial Osteopathy a gentle treatment of fluid drive and articulation of the cranial bones through the meninges, which really helps the release of pressure in the cranium and aligns the body to assist and reduce the symptoms of headaches and migraines.

Q) I don’t know what you do but it helped my back and was very gentle.

A) I used Cranial Osteopathy; this is another skill set used in osteopathy treatments when the osteopath believes the body needs a different approach to structural osteopathy as above.

Q) Pelvic floor muscles apply to men too?

A) YES! The pelvic floor is part of the core support system that supports your back when moving and lifting a weight, whether that’s a child, a suitcase or playing tennis or stability and balance.
