Nicola RistBSc (Hons) Ost. Dip Sports Massage
Associate Osteopath & Sports Massage
Nicola is a registered osteopath, having graduated in 2013 with a 2:1 BSc Hons. in Osteopathy which was a rigorous five year degree. During this time she gained a detailed understanding of the anatomy and biomechanics of the human body.
She has also completed further post-graduate training in cranial osteopathy for all ages including babies, osteopathy during pregnancy, sports massage and taping techniques. Nicola is registered with the General Osteopathic Council and is a member of the Institute of Osteopathy.
Nicola is very caring and is passionate about osteopathy because of the immense benefits that patients experience from her treatment. She takes a very detailed patient history and uses a large variety of osteopathic techniques in order to be able to adapt her treatment to the individual needs of the patient. Some patients need a very gentle treatment, for example, babies, pregnant women and the elderly and some need techniques which can get them back to playing their favourite sport. She loves the philosophy behind osteopathic treatment which embraces the knowledge that the body responds best when it is treated as a whole. Pain in one area of the body can be as a result of a condition elsewhere in the body and poor posture can have detrimental effects on the entire musculoskeletal system.
Osteopathy can be used both to treat pain and also as a preventative measure to maintain healthy joints. An exercise programme is often prescribed alongside treatment in order to speed up recovery and maintain the benefits gained from treatment.
Nicola is a working mum and after having experienced two pregnancies she is able to empathise and understand the difficulties some women and their babies endure during and after pregnancy.
Nicola enjoys keeping fit in her spare time . She enjoys mountain and hill walking, pilates and yoga. She also enjoys entertaining friends, looking after her family, baking and the theatre.
