Matthew Carr: case study

I first visited Emma with my son Matthew in September 2008. He was diagnosed with Global Development Delay back in March 2008 and after numerous hospital appointments, blood tests, etc had not tested positive for any type of medical condition, much to our relief. Matthew was born full term by forceps delivery and although he had bruising to his head and face, this quickly healed and he settled into a good feeding and sleeping routine almost immediately.

I had heard of cranial osteopathy during my antenatal classes and thought this was just for newborn babies who had endured a traumatic birth and were unsettled, but I couldn’t of been more wrong. Matthew has just turned two and has the developmental age of a one year old. Since starting his treatment sessions with Emma we have seen an incredible change in his posture, mobility and personality.

He could not sit up straight and would drink his juice laying down, he could only commando crawl and was a very placid, lazy boy who had very little interest in the world around him. He is now sitting up straight and drinking in this position, four point crawling, standing and starting to cruise around furniture, which has stimulated awareness of his surroundings. He is more alert, inquisitive and has started babbling. All of this in just two months, it’s just amazing. My only regret is that I didn’t understand more clearly the benefits this treatment could bring to Matthew and our family life, and wish that I had visited Emma much sooner.

As you can see I have written quite a lot and I think I could have written a whole book about him once I got going, even though he is just two! See you in a couple of weeks for his next session.
